Shopping For A Cause!

When it comes to shopping, I always love to buy from companies that give back to the world around us. I just wanted to share a few of my favorite charitable companies out there in hopes that maybe you too will find some inspiration to shop for a cause.

TOMS
After visiting Argentina back in 2006, TOMS founder Blake Mycoskie decided he wanted to do more to help, so he created TOMS shoes. TOMS has a "One for One" motto, which for each pair of shoes bought, a brand new pair is donated to a child in need. You can also help restore a persons sight by purchasing a pair of glasses, or provide a weeks worth of clean water to a person in need simply by purchasing one bag of coffee. --> Click here to shop: http://www.toms.com/

WARBY PARKER
Another company that has taken on the One for One motto is eyewear company Warby Parker. On top of having really cute glasses (and the opportunity to virtually try on your glasses before purchasing), Warby Parker also donates the cost for a pair of glasses to partnering non-profit organizations that matches each pair of glasses purchased through their company. So far they have donated money to provide over 1 million pairs of glasses, and helped create jobs for thousands of men and women around the world. --> Click here to shop: https://www.warbyparker.com/

LAUREN BUSH - FEED
Besides being a model, niece of George W. Bush, and married to Ralph Lauren's son, Lauren Bush is the founder of FEED, a company aimed to eradicate world hunger. Roughly 10% of of all sales are donated to charities that fight hunger. Also, the purchase of one FEED bag will feed one student for an entire school year. Globally, the FEED organization has provided over 84 MILLION meals. And this was a project that only began in 2007! --> Click here to shop: http://www.feedprojects.com/

FEEL MORE BETTER
There has been a lot of movement lately about promoting the other 99% of body types that we don't see in the fashion world. (See Modcloths #Fashiontruth project)  Well, Feel More Better is one company that is also working hard to fight that battle. Not only has this company pulled together numerous resources for women and girls struggling with body image issues (along with many other issues as well), but have they been huge backers in a petition that would require advertisers to use a special label whenever their images are photoshopped. Also, with the purchase of every StoryTee shirt, a book gets donated to an underprivileged girl. What I like about this company is that it is fighting to help raise young girls in a more positive and healthy atmosphere (both physically and mentally).  --> Click here to shop: http://www.feelmorebetter.com/shop/

I would love to know what some of your favorite charitable companies are! If there are any you feel strongly about that you would like me to mention, comment below and let me know the name of the company, and I will do some research and add to this post.
I hope this encouraged some of you to begin looking and shopping at companies that are aiming to give back, as there are SO many people in this world who are in such dire need of many of the necessities that we take for granted.

    1. Those are my favorite posts to do too! I'm glad that you enjoyed them! I am trying to make it a weekly series, but I'm in nursing school full time, so I'm limited on time when I have a heavy week of work to do. I will have another for this coming Monday though, so check back!

  5. Great post! I am actually currently on the hunt for new eyeglasses. I'd never heard of Warby Parker, but after reading your description I'm inspired to buy from them! How convenient, they have a location in Los Angeles too ;)

    1. I know, they are great. They also have an option where they send you a couple of pairs via snail mail, and you are able to take them for a test run to decide which one you like best. It's kind of neat how you literally don't even need to leave your house to find a pair of glasses that suits you!
