4th of July: Country Chic

The fourth of July has always been one of my favorite holidays. I'm kind of weird in that my favorite holidays never include those where gifts are given (my birthday included!). I'm a girl who loves food, so any holiday (ex-Thanksgiving) where I get to pig out is by far a favorite. (Plus, cmon people, fireworks, sparklers and grilling - what's not to love!)

To add to that, I especially enjoy this years 4th of July because it's in my very city (one that I am also relatively new to), where the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress. Thomas Jefferson, among many others, knew that signing this Declaration may very well be their own death sentence. Yet, it was here in Philadelphia, PA that theses brave men put their signatures, their lives, their families, and their destiny, on that very parchment.

If you are here (stateside) with me celebrating the birth of the U.S., have no fear in choosing a fitting ensemble - Now through July 4th, I am bringing you an array of different looks to help you dress in style for whatever occasion you might be attending, so be sure to check back every day/every other day for some new inspiration. (Warning: I had TOO much fun raiding my parents attic and finding some fun and suiting props to use!)

Event location: An elegant picnic by the lake or an alternative for a chilly evening.

I was torn on how to style this Breathtaking Tiger Lilies skirt from ModCloth. I had chosen three different tops to style it with, and had to phone in a friend (my mom!) for the final say. In the end I decided to style this skirt with both a long and short-sleeved chambray shirt, as we all know, the weather can be quite unpredictable.

Outfit Details:
Floral Top: Levi's via. JCP
Polka Dot Top: Levi's via. JCP
Skirt: Breathtaking Tiger Lilies Skirt via. Modcloth
Sunglasses: No name brand
Purse: Dooney & Bourke
Heels: Adrienne Vittadini via. Macys

What I loved about both these looks is that they didn't scream red, white and blue. The tones of all the colors were a bit more mild compared to some of the other outfits I have planned to share with you, and I would probably wear either of these outfits again when not celebrating July 4th. (Although, I wouldddd switch out the accessories for some other colors in that case!)

Check back again tomorrow for another special 4th of July-inspired outfit post. Hope you are all having a wonderful week.

  1. I'm super excited for 4th of july! My husband has the 3rd off and finally has Saturdays off so we can actually watch the 4th of july parade in my hometown! I have never seen it because he used to work Tuesday - Saturday... I am sooo glad his schedule changed. Also, that skirt is everything. It's such a pretty color and the perfect length!

  4. I adore your 4th of July themed outfits! I've been working on putting together a couple myself, as I plan to go all out celebrating the 4th this year. :) I will actually be in Philly for the 4th, as well! Couldn't really think of a more patriotic spot to celebrate!
