Buy This Instead: Pink Favorites

So I'm a week+day late in my Wednesday segments of Buy This Instead, I apologize! In honor of watching Pretty in Pink the other night though, I decided to dedicate this weeks (late) segment to my favorite color, PINK!
Pink is a color that is easily worked into any wardrobe to add a pop of feminism, without having to overload on the color. I've found some of my favorite pink essentials that will hopefully give you that runway look without having to have the runway expense. Enjoy!

Buy this:

Instead of this:
Chanel Pink Tunic $27.00

Honestly, why would anyone in their right mind spend $30.00 on nail color, when you can get practically the same color and quality for so much less. I just don't get it!

Buy this:
via. Modcloth $34.99

Instead of this:
Kate Spade via. Nordstrom $198.00

I love Kate Spade just as much as the next girl, don't get me wrong in any way. But you don't have to have a large bank account in order to get the same looks as some of these more expensive brands. Modcloth is a company I stumbled upon a few years back during a google search of "Stores like Urban Outfitters". I've been hooked since.

Buy this:
Rebecca Minkoff via. Gilt $169

Instead of this:
Also Rebecca Minkoff, via her website $325

It's not impossible to score those designer bags we all drool over. Even as a budget shopper, there are ways to get around this. You might not be walking around with this seasons "It Bag", but you can still sleep at night knowing you didn't just blow through your child's college savings account. There are many websites like Gilt.com, which offers you maybe last seasons styles at a fraction of the cost. I personally don't even see much of a difference between the two above Rebecca Minkoff bags, and I worked for many years for a company that specialized in designer handbags. Both sachels have the convertable shoulder strap option which is nice, the colors are close, if not an exact match. and I actually like the hardware of the first bag better than the second. With websites like gilt.com, it's a win win for everyone!

.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.

Buy this:
Giggle kitten heel via. Chinese Laundry on sale $29.98

Instead of this:
Aza kitten heel via. Jimmy Choo $595.00

To be honest, as long as I can walk in a pair of heels and not have terrible blisters by the end of the night, I'm happy. These kitten heels by Jimmy Choo are definitely cute, but there are so many other companies out there that sell an equally cute pair of kitten heels for less than half the price of Jimmy Choo. In fact, half of half of half of the cost of a pair of his shoes, usually! After doing some math, the Chinese Laundry shoes cost less than 1/10th the price of the Jimmy Choo shoes listed above. Go figure!

.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.----.

That's all for now for this weeks (kind of short) weekly edition of Buy This Instead. I apologize because I have been a bit under the weather lately and have not done much posting this week.

    1. I could almost say all the colors are my favorite, but pink takes it by a smidge. I was a total girly girl princess growing up (a casualty of being the only daughter and granddaughter in a predominately male family, lol). Modcloth, while being a bit pricy, has some awesome sales which makes up for that! My first purchase was an owl lamp, and it's been all downhill since then. While I love dressing up, I'm really big into interior design/decorating. I actually went to school prior to going to nursing school for interior design, but it wasn't what I wanted to spend my whole life doing so I ended up leaving the program. I'm a big hobbies person, but nursing is for sure my passion. :)

    1. I know. Everyone I know is obsessed with the darker OPI colors (specifically lincoln park after dark), but I just love a good pink polish!

    1. Being back in school full time has really made me have to watch what I spend, so this has been a good tool for me too to be more budget savvy. I imagine when I'm done though I'll definitely do a lot of splurging. A Chanel bag is at the top of my list.
