The Girls Behind Tilly Style Tuesdays

Hello lovlies! Back again after a short holiday holiday break are our fabulous friends from Tilly Style. Welcome back girls!

I think it's safe to say that for a lot of us, fashion is just one of our many interests. This week we're taking an inside look at the girls behind Tilly Style Tuesdays and exploring some of their other favorite passions. Hope you enjoy...

Lilly's Art

"Dreams are like paintings of a great artist.  Your dreams are your paint, the world is your canvas.  Believing, is the brush that makes your dreams into a masterpiece of reality."

Art came before fashion for me and it's easy to say it has always been a part of my life.  Painting is a way to vent out all those frustrations that are thrown at you while growing up.  It allows oneself to be placed in a meditative position where your thoughts are focused on the good and the negative slowly melts away.

Art gave me structure and to this day constantly has my mind exploding with ideas.  I love painting with acrylic for intense color, using charcoal for black and white drawings, and watercolor for scenic views.  My friends even call me Lil' Miss Picasso!

Experimenting with all these mediums is just like experimenting with fashion!  You have to try all the new trends before you can find one you actually like, feel comfortable in, and will make you happy.

I can say with 100% confidence that art and fashion will always be a part of my life because it has built me into who I am, making me feel beautiful and accomplished... and I love that!

Do what you love Tilly Tuesday Readers!

Thy's Writing

Besides being a fashion enthusiast, I also love to write! Whether it is a blog post, a poem, a short story or a lengthy novel, I will enjoy myself most of the time (besides those dreaded research papers on boring topics of course – who likes those?) I’ve been writing since I was little and never had the urge to stop. Pieces I’ve written include an entire book series, a comic strip, thousands of short stories, a picture book, and one novel.  Another career I wanted to hold when I was young was a Fashion Designer. However, that dream slowly faded when I realized that I was terrible at sewing and got my proportions and measurements constantly mixed up.
A few years back, my high school held an assembly they called “Career Day”. One particular career stood out to me – she was a fashion reporter. She talked about how she traveled the world interviewing and reporting models, celebrities, and other high fashion people. In addition to this, companies mailed her free products, such as accessories beauty products and clothes, so that she could write a review on it for fashion magazines. As soon as her speech was over, I knew that this was something I wanted to work towards and invest my time and my life in. Starting college, my CA was working towards her fashion career and stepping foot into the industry as a blogger. She is now becoming more and more established and that is what I’m aiming for TillyStyle to be one day in the near future. The fact that I discovered a way to combine my love for fashion and writing continually blows my mind and it would be an absolute dream come true some famous fashion journalist.
With that, I urge all of you to follow your dreams and your heart. Figure out what you want to do, figure out how to do it and execute the plan. Good luck to all of you out there!  XOXO <3

Besides fashion/blogging, what are some of YOUR other passions? I am such a Susie homemaker in that I love baking and crafting. In a few weeks I'll be sharing a project of mine where I gave some old nightstands a facelift, so stay tuned! Also, check back this weekend for a new segment where I look at some of my favorite style icons on television and in movies and share my most loved looks of theirs!
Hope y'all have an amazing week! I'll be catching up on all of your blogs over the next few days, as I FINALLY have my internet up and running in my new place. (I'll be doing this in between my studies and catching up on my shows, obviously!) 2 weeks without cable and internet really do a wonder on a girl. While I'm glad to have everything up and running, I'd be lying if I said I didn't love the break. It does one well to step away from social media and the screens for a bit and focus on enjoying the everyday things in real life.
Happy Tuesday!

    1. I know, right!? I can paint by number, but that's about it. (I'm more crafty than I am artsy in that sense). I am definitely blown away by Lillys talent! Xo

  3. That is seriously so impressive. Especially in your late 20s when so many people lose their creativity during their years in school and the corporate world. It just kinda sucks it all out of you!

I really wish I could paint but my only artistic skill is more in the photography side of things. :o)

    1. I completely agree! I can't paint for the life of me. Unless it's a paint by number picture, it will probably be awful haha. And that's awesome though that you have photography skills. I don't at all, although I got a new DSLR and I'm thinking I should take a class to help show me the ins and outs of it all. Thanks for stopping by!
